Trigger Point, the “propulsive” crime drama from ITV, has teased the “start of a sinister vendetta” in a series of first-look images. Dropping today (29 September), ITV released the new pictures as well as a new trailer for the upcoming third series.

Starring Vicky McClure as a former military bomb disposal expert named Lana Washington, the series follows the character as she transfers her military skills to her new role at the Metropolitan Police.

Comprising six new episodes, series three sees Lana and the experienced team of bomb disposal officers come together to “investigate a bomb threat that reveals itself to be the start of a sinister vendetta”.

Per the synopsis, “someone is targeting individuals and demanding revenge” so the Bomb Disposal Squad must work alongside the Police Counterterrorism Unit in a race against time to locate the bomber before they can claim their next victim.

Reprising their roles and joining McClure on the cast of season three are stars including Eric Shango, Nabil Elouahabi, Natalie Simpson and Maanuv Thiara.

Each of the aforementioned actors feature in the newly released images, as well as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels star Jason Flemyng, who is set to make a guest appearance in the upcoming season.

As well as being treated to the brand new images, ITV has released a teaser trailer for Trigger Point season three, which promises a nail-biting experience for fans.

In the action-packed 60-second clip, viewers see Lana and the team of bomb disposal officers, also known as EXPOs, as they attempt to keep London safe from terrorist threats and explosive devices.

In the trailer, a black cab with the driver trapped inside is seen fitted with an explosive device as Lana says over her radio: “There is a chemical weapon in the cab.”

It then becomes obvious that the team are chasing a serial killer who is determined to make their victims suffer while Lana does her best to catch the criminal.

Trigger Point series three will air on ITV1 and STV and stream on ITVX and STV Player. A release date has not yet been confirmed. Season one and two are available to watch now on ITVX. A fourth series has also been commissioned for 2026.

The second instalment of Trigger Point aired in early 2024. Line of Duty creator and writer Jed Mercurio is credited as an executive producer on the series.

Trigger Point airs on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
