Emmerdale’s special Bear Wolf episode has ended on a chilling cliffhanger – read on to find out what is coming next. In tonight’s special episode, we finally discovered what happened to Paddy Dingle’s missing dad over the last 100 days.

Last week, newcomer Anya was recaptured by the villainous Ray and Celia and taken to a derelict building on the farm where she was reunited with Bear, who was also being held captive there.

In today’s harrowing episode, which tackles the topic of modern slavery, it was revealed that Bear was offered lodgings by Ray in exchange for labour.

Bear was trapped by the evil Ray, who manipulated him into staying in the derelict building where he was later joined by more people that Ray was exploiting.

When Bear sustained an injury to his arm, he begged to be taken to a hospital, saying: “Take me to the hospital please.” Ray could be heard speaking to Celia, who forbade him to take Bear for medical treatment. Bear was left frail and unable to escape.

After Anya joined the growing group, Bear formed a heartwarming friendship with her. “Don’t be scared, I won’t do you any harm,” he told her. “I’ll look after you,” he added.

Ray was later seen taunting Bear, covering his bed in food and saying: “I will throw you back in that layby and you will rot in your own filth and nobody cares. Your family don’t want you, you’ll be dead to them anyway.”

Anya shared her food with Bear and he told her his real name. When she made her escape attempt, Bear begged his new friend not to go.

On Bear’s 100th day, Anya was thrown back into the building, where she was comforted by Bear.

As Bear sang to Anya, a sweeping shot showed Paddy and Moira out in the field tending to some sheep, revealing that Paddy was just a stone’s throw away from where his dad was being kept prisoner.

With Bear and Anya being kept so close to the farm, will Paddy and Moira find them?

Later in the week, the story will take a surprising turn when Paddy goes to the police and Eve Dingle claims that she spotted her grandpa in the woods.

Aware that his dad is now missing, Paddy gets the police involved, though PC Swirling suggests that he is overreacting, saying there is no evidence that Bear might be in danger.

Meanwhile, Matty Barton attempts to occupy Eve by taking her on a “bear hunt” in the woods with Isaac.

Eve shouts to Matty that she thinks she just saw her grandpa Bear. Convinced that she can’t have seen Bear because he has disappeared, Matty assumes that Eve is just confused about their imaginary bear hunt game.

With Paddy still searching for Bear, he attempts to find out information from the car hire company. This sheds no light on his dad’s whereabouts and Paddy is left questioning whether maybe his dad just doesn’t want to be found.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
