Ged Musto, from Brynithel, has dedicated his life to shaping Britain’s fitness landscape, working in various parts of the country, including Leominster from 1996 to 2015.
A former member of the armed forces, Mr Musto represented the Army in sports such as athletics, cross-country skiing, boxing, cricket, and rugby.
He earned his qualification in fitness training in 1986.
Mr Musto is a four-time world and seven-time British record holder for stamina and endurance feats, with records including 2,908 sit-ups in one hour at Leominster Leisure Centre in 1999.
His press-up record of 2,467 in one hour, achieved in 1994, also still stands.
In 2025, he was appointed a British Weight Lifting Tutor, underlining his commitment to mentoring.
He has competed internationally, achieving fourth place at the 2005 European Weightlifting Championships and reaching the quarter-finals of the 1997 European Arm Wrestling Championships.
He was also one of the first Britons to compete in the German Arm Wrestling League for Münster between 1987 and 1988.
In 2023/24, Mr Musto was named UK Fitness Trainer of the Year, becoming the first Welsh recipient and the oldest winner in the competition’s history.
He has been recognised three times as one of the UK’s top 10 personal trainers (1995, 2002, 2010), twice as Berkshire’s Personal Trainer of the Year (1994, 1995), and received The Best of Hereford Award in 1999.
His career extends into rugby fitness, having trained players from London Saracens, Christ College Brecon, Abertillery RFC, and Luctonians RFC.
A former celebrity personal trainer and fitness writer for world champion bodybuilder Lee Labrada’s website, Mr Musto now serves as a UK and international fitness consultant.
His 40-year career stands as a testament to passion, endurance, and an unwavering commitment to inspiring the next generation of athletes and coaches.
