Coronation Street reveals what’s really happened to Carla Connor tonight, ahead of her pivotal role in the Corriedale crossover episode. After weeks of being sabotaged by scheming Becky Swain, can Carla finally turn the tables against her ruthless love rival?
Carla has been held captive by Becky since before Christmas, as the nasty villain wanted her out of the way. Kit Green came tantalisingly close to uncovering Carla’s whereabouts last week, but Becky had managed to stay one step ahead by moving her to a new location.
In tonight’s 7.30pm episode, Kit follows up on a lead that he’s received over where Becky’s car was last seen.
He soon makes a shocking discovery and comes face-to-face with Carla. There’s no time to waste, though, as Kit knows that Becky is planning to leave for Rotterdam with Lisa Swain and their daughter Betsy.

Desperate to stop Becky from getting her way, Carla and Kit speed towards the port to make sure that she can’t leave. Carla also calls Lisa, but this worrying distraction causes Becky to take her eyes off the road while they’re all in the car together – with catastrophic consequences as a devastating crash unfolds.
The drama then continues into the hour-long Corriedale special at 8pm, as Coronation Street crosses over with Emmerdale for the first time in its history.
“Carla is absolutely desperate to stop them,” Alison King, who plays the Underworld boss, explains. “She’s telling Kit, ‘Go, go, go – get them’. She wants to be where they are, straight to the point, police or no police. She wants to reach them as fast as possible.
“Carla’s already been through a huge ordeal, but the moment she hears that crash, everything else disappears. She just wants to get to them. She’s devastated and terrified about what she’s going to find.”

On Carla and Kit’s surprise alliance, Alison adds: “I love being detective, though we didn’t do as much of it as I expected. Me and Jacob [Roberts, who plays Kit] kept laughing, going; ‘How have we worked this out?’
“But Carla’s been piecing things together for a long time, and so has he. Jacob is so funny to work with, we’re like Little and Large. We were stuck together for the first few nights and just had the biggest laugh. I can’t tell you why without spoiling things – but it was great.”
Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV1, followed by Corriedale at 8pm, and streams on ITVX.
