Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street’s producer Kate Brooks has confirmed the future of Lisa Swain and Carla Connor’s relationship – and it’s good news for their fans. It’s been a tough few months for ‘Swarla’, with scheming Becky Swain doing everything she could to sabotage their relationship, but happier times are ahead.
The show’s recent Corriedale crossover event saw Becky get her long-awaited comeuppance after holding Carla captive for weeks. However, Carla wasn’t in a rush to forgive and forget after learning that Lisa slept with Becky while she was away.
Upcoming scenes see Lisa fight hard to win back Carla. Lisa’s daughter Betsy is also keen to see their happy family unit back together.
Addressing the future of Swarla in a brand new interview, Brooks explained: “Well, Becky was an absolute obstacle thrown their way! Now they’ve dealt with Becky and her true colours have absolutely been revealed for all to see – and Lisa’s finally realised the extent of the manipulation and the lies that Becky’s told – we’ll see them starting to make their way back to each other.

“Obviously, there’s a lot to get past, but they love each other and that love never faltered throughout at all. I think the love remains strong – it was the circumstances that got in the way.
“Now that the ghost of Becky is finally being put to bed, they can move forward with their lives and they can look forward to their future together.”
Viewers will remember that Lisa and Carla were at their happiest shortly before Becky came back from the dead. After a couple of proposal-related mishaps, Lisa popped the question to Carla in a romantic scene outside Underworld in early September.

Brooks continued: “They were engaged, so wedding bells are certainly ringing in the not-too-distant future, and they’ll get their happy ever after.
“They will get the chance to finally be free from Becky and be free from the drama that surrounded that story and be happy and content with each other. So it’s going to be a romantic spring for Carla and Lisa, which will make many people smile, I imagine!”
In the meantime, fans haven’t seen the last of Becky just yet – with recent spoilers revealing that she’ll be making more threats, which forces Betsy to step in and speak her mind…
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
