Your eyes may currently be fixed on the UK version of the show, but fans of treachery and banishments will soon have their fill as The Traitors Ireland has had its release date confirmed. What’s even better, however, is that it’s not too far away!

The series, which is hosted by Derry Girls and The Great Pottery Throw Down star Siobhán McSweeney, sees 24 contestants head to Slane Castle for a chance to win a cash prize, though there’s plenty of obstacles in their way.

After originally airing in its native country on RTÉ One across August and September last year, many UK residents were wondering when they would get a chance to watch another variation of TV’s most popular game.

They have their answer now, with The Traitors Ireland set to premiere on BBC One at midnight on Saturday 24 January. The second episode will follow an hour later at 1am, though there’s no further information beyond that instalment (via BBC).

It’s also unclear what the release schedule on streaming service BBC iPlayer will entail, though international versions of the show have tended to be added to the streamer in full, so maybe it will be the same for the Irish version.

Crucially, the premiere on BBC One comes just hours after the fourth season of the UK version concludes, with host Claudia Winkleman set to unveil if a Faithful or Traitor will take the money home.

While we still have a way to go until then, this week proved to be a dramatic one, with several big exits taking place in a period where two Traitors engaged in a bitter feud that resulted in a banishment.

After Fiona Hughes waged war on fellow Traitor Rachel Duffy, it was left for the rest of the cast to decide who to side with, but it became quickly apparent that Rachel had won the battle after Fiona was banished.

The previous night, it was Amanda Collier who faced the axe as she was banished, with the former police detective left red-faced as she subsequently discovered that Rachel, her closest friend in the castle, was a Traitor all along.

The Traitors Ireland will premiere on BBC One at midnight on Saturday 24 January.
