Ghosts fans have become convinced that the show is set for a comeback thanks to a series of cryptic posts. The fan-favourite sitcom originally aired for five seasons between 2019 and 2023, and follows a married couple who move into a country house that they discover is shared by ghosts.
Starring Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe, it features ghosts from different time periods played by creators Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond, and has become a fan-favourite series.
Despite being heartbroken at it coming to an end three years ago, viewers have been given a potential glimmer of hope after several of the aforementioned stars shared the same cryptic video on social media.
In it, the door to Button House is seen opening, though anything further remains a mystery for now.
Expressing their excitement, one fan beamed: “Ohmagaaad what’s going on!”, while another added: “WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS.”

“Are we getting to return to Button House?!?!” a third added, as more speculated that a big screen outing could be on the cards.
“Is it Ghosts the movie? Please say it’s Ghosts the movie,” a fan asked, another echoing: “Please say you a making a Ghosts film/Christmas special/new series? Pleeeeeeease!!”
Ghosts came to an end with a Christmas special, and at the time some of the stars spoke to Digital Spy about why they had decided to call it a day.
“It was one of those complete head-over-heart decisions, really,” Rickard explained. “Inevitably, television goes one way, where things become less popular, and disappear, and get cancelled, and are replaced in the public perception by something new.

“We were really keen to not start making episodes that were less good than the ones we’ve done so far. There’s always that fear.”
Willbond added: “We talked about it really from when we started writing series 4. We all sort of agreed, really, then, that if we made it to 5, then it would be time to stop.
“We all have various other things that we wanted to be doing at this time. And every time I talk to somebody about it now, I feel like we’ve made the wrong decision, because we love it so much. I would hate for it to be series 7, and people going, ‘What happened to Ghosts? It used to be really good’.”
Ghosts seasons 1-5 are streaming now on BBC iPlayer.
