The iconic ’90s show Baywatch is getting another reboot, this time on the small screen. The series, which began in 1989 and ended in 2001, is coming back for a new 12-episode season on the American network Fox.
The new show is set to be released across late 2026 and early 2027, with the original creators Michael Berk, Greg Bonann and Doug Schwartz all on board as executive producers. Matt Nix — who created X-Men spin-off The Gifted and the True Lies TV series — has been announced as the showrunner.
The original series, starring David Hasselhoff, followed the work of a team of lifeguards, and it’s often remembered for its slow-motion running scenes along the beach. In 2017, Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron starred in a film adaptation, also called Baywatch.

No cast members have been confirmed yet, which means that we don’t know if any of the original stars, which includes Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, will be returning.
Both of them made appearances in the 2017 film, which released to bad reviews and a Razzie award for being “So Bad You Loved It”.
Dwayne Johnson actually accepted the award, stating: “I humbly and graciously accept my Razzie and I thank you critics, fans and at the end of the day, a movie so rotten you fall in love with it, that’s just the way love goes.”
