A eureka moment while working out and a redundancy combined to pave the way for a town’s new personal training service to be born.
Steve Husband, once of Haverhill but now living in Clare with wife Emily and their children Eleanor, eight, Lucas, five, and Freya, three, went from misfortune to the launch of his first business, Inspire Fitness.
Having been made redundant after the Covid pandemic from his job of 11 years at the Costa Foundation, a corporate charity to Costa Coffee, he decided to follow his passion for sport and fitness and make it a career.

Steve, 35, said: “It was while I was in the gym that I had the realisation that it was this, helping people to get the same endorphins from exercise that I am getting, helping people to use exercise to better their mental and physical health, this is what I wanted to do.
“So, I researched the best personal training course available and signed up, the first time back in education for many years.
“For around 18 months I juggled working, attending my course in London at the weekends, doing my coursework during the week and of course being a dad to three young kids and a husband.”

After qualifying, he opted to launch Inspire Fitness. Steve believes Clare now has a service it didn’t have before.
The all-inclusive training group operates from the football fields pavilion seven times a week, with sessions that can fit around work and the school run, including evenings. He also provides a mobile personal training service.
Steve said: “I am proud of my community and am proud to be able to provide this service for them.”

With a free, once-weekly community fitness session due to start next month, Steve added: “I believe that fitness and exercise should be available for everyone, the power that it has to positively impact a persons mental health is unmatched.”
