Asprilla was viewed as an up-and-coming star in the 212 division.
IFBB Pro Men’s 212 bodybuilder Yeifer Asprilla passed away recently. The news broke on Sunday with the early indication being that he passed away from pneumonia.
The official cause of death has not been released just yet but the Fit Dudes shared a post claiming that it was due to a case of pneumonia. The account also noted that Asprilla was preparing for his pro debut in 212 in just three weeks.
“The cause of death was reported as pneumonia, cutting short a promising career before it truly began. His loss is a heartbreaking moment for the bodybuilding community.”
Asprilla became known as an up-and-coming star in the 212 division. He was able to build an impressive physique using a blend of his workout plan and diet led by his team. He was able to earn his pro card and was preparing to take the stage during the Pharlabs Mexico Pro/Am in October.
Yeifer Asprilla Passes Away Before Beginning Career in 212
The family of Yeifer Asprilla shared information about his memorial service following his death. They asked for respect during this time and for the “legacy and life of our loved one.”
The Men’s 212 division has been one of the best in bodybuilding for years now. Many competitors are beginning to get their start in 212 before making the jump to Men’s Open. Derek Lunsford headlines this group as he made the move from 212 Olympia champ to Mr. Olympia, becoming the first competitor to win titles in two divisions. Both Keone Pearson and Shaun Clarida have also expressed interest in competing in the biggest division in the sport but plan to battle it out in 212 this year.
Yeifer Asprilla’s death follows in line of an unfortunate string in the sport of bodybuilding. Last week, it was reported that IFBB Women’s Physique Pro Jessica Rivera passed away. Rivera put together an impressive bodybuilding career that earned her a Pro Card nearly a decade ago. She became known in Women’s Physique for her impressive conditioning and muscle tone. Rivera was able to become a strong competitor in the division over the course of her career.
Like Rivera, Yeifer Asprilla had a successful career in front of him. Generation Iron sends condolences to family and friends during this time. For more news and updates, follow Generation Iron on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
