Emmerdale’s Robert Sugden faces a dramatic wedding day tonight, as he’s torn between his prison husband Kev Townsend and soul mate Aaron Dingle. With so much at stake, which way will he go?
Robert has become hell-bent on keeping Kev happy – even at Aaron’s expense – after hearing that his other half is terminally ill. As Robert is due to receive a £250,000 inheritance payout once Kev passes away, he believes that a few more months spent with him is a good deal to set up his longer-term future with Aaron.

In tonight’s episode, though, Robert’s cash-focused stance is shattered as he sleeps with Aaron again, shortly before his planned ceremony with Kev. As Aaron has already given him a major ultimatum – it’s “game over” for them if he renews his wedding vows with Kev – Robert realises what he stands to lose.
Robert and Aaron’s passionate reunion is the first big shock of the day, but another soon follows. After time to think things through, Aaron suddenly suggests that the wedding may not be such a bad idea after all.

Speaking recently about the longer-term future, Ryan Hawley – who plays Robert – told Inside Soap: “It’s not a very easy time for Aaron and Robert this December. The events leading up to Christmas and New Year into the Corriedale special are very high stakes.
“Robert’s state of mind around Christmas is panic, very anxious. There’s a threat to life this Christmas.”
