Corriedale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale icon Emma Atkins has addressed a supposed “rivalry” with fellow soap Coronation Street ahead of the huge crossover. The two shows are set to combine universes for the first time next month for a special episode.
Speaking on Loose Women yesterday, Emma revealed that she had already seen the episode, and sang its praises.
“I saw it two days ago – it’s off the scale!” she teased. “If you love one soap, it’s incredible. If you love both, it’s just mind blowing… I’m speechless.”
The Charity Dingle star went on to reveal that Emmerdale and Corrie’s respective casts “kind of” know each other, before dismissing rumours of a rivalry between the stars.
“We all get to meet through these awards and stuff,” she explained. “I don’t know anyone personally, we just have that lovely camaraderie.

“I think people want there to be some sort of rivalry, but actually both sides of the pond want this to be a brilliant experience.”
Charity is among 41 characters who have been confirmed for the special, which will include a multi-vehicle pile-up.
“Corriedale is just the start of the drama as the aftermath of the crash gives rise to fear, murderous intent, death, destruction, closely-guarded secrets and lies,” a logline teases. “Life in Emmerdale and Weatherfield will never be the same again!”

Among the characters set to cross paths are Charity and Corrie’s Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), with a recent teaser image showing the two pregnant ladies in distress at Hotten General Hospital.
“With Julia and Jack [P Shepherd, who plays David], I got to watch them both pull off some quite intense emotional scenes,” Emma recently told Digital Spy. “To see them in that capacity felt quite humbling and I was blown away by their performances.
“It was like a twin storyline, in terms of both characters being heavily pregnant. I took [Shona] under my wing for all of five seconds! I remember I kept messing up that scene, though! She forgave me!”
Corriedale will air on Monday 5 January at 8pm on ITV1 and will stream on ITVX.
