As one of the biggest releases of 2026, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has plenty of hype to live up to. But with just over seven months until it hits the big screen, the upcoming entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has gotten an exciting update.

The superhero film, the fourth in Marvel’s rebooted series, sees Tom Holland reprise his role as the iconic web-slinger following the devastating events at the end of 2021’s No Way Home, where everybody forgot that he was Spider-Man.

With the blockbuster due to be released in cinemas in July, director Destin Daniel Cretton confirmed via Instagram that filming had wrapped on the project and that post-production work was under way.

“I’m so deeply grateful for the people who walked with me through the biggest, most rewarding film I’ve ever been a part of,” wrote Cretton in the caption on the post, which included a photo of the director alongside Holland.

“To our amazing cast, for breathing so much life into these beloved characters and moving us every day. To our unbelievable crew, who worked tirelessly with unmatched creativity and craftsmanship, who made me laugh so hard my stomach never stopped hurting.”

“I love you all so much and can’t wait for the world to see your stunning work on the big screen,” continued the director, who has previously worked in the MCU with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

“And of course, to @tomholland2013 , for your kind, generous leadership on and off screen, for your relentless work ethic, your fearless performances, and for your friendship. That’s a wrap on Spider-Man: Brand New Day!”

The comment section was filled with Marvel stars with Michael Mando, Simu Liu and Gemma Chan all leaving messages. Captain Marvel actor Brie Larson, who starred in Cretton’s breakout feature Short Term 12, also left a comment.

While we still have a few months to wait before its release, Holland has done his best to ramp up excitement for the superhero film, teasing: “It’s been a really fun process… I think where we’ve got to, now that we’re shooting, we are shooting absolute gold.”

In addition to Holland and Mando, the latter of whom reprises his role as Scorpion, the returning cast for Brand New Day includes Zendaya and Jacob Batalon. Mark Ruffalo will also appear as Bruce Banner/Hulk, while Sadie Sink will make her MCU debut.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to be released in cinemas on 31 July 2026.
