Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has confirmed that Theo Silverton will be full of rage on Christmas Day as he continues to abuse Todd Grimshaw. Following a violent confrontation earlier this month, can Todd escape his clutches?

Todd and Theo initially got together earlier this year following the latter’s separation from Danielle, though the initial passion subsequently evolved into abuse as Theo exerted coercive control over his partner.

Earlier this month, tensions escalated after the pair got into a physical altercation, with Theo manipulating events to make himself look innocent. After discovering that Todd had placed cameras in the flat, Theo edited recorded footage to twist the knife further.

In scenes set to air on Christmas Day (25 December), Todd and Theo will attend a lunch with George, Christina, Glenda and Summer, with Theo using it as an attempt to keep up appearances.

His demeanour changes later on, however, when Summer reveals that she has bought Todd a ticket for an Andrew Scott retrospective. She remarks that Todd has always had a thing for the actor, and this gnaws at Theo.

As the group play a game of charades, Theo’s temper begins to worsen, and he eventually smashes a glass of wine on the floor – will the latest act of petulance awaken other people to Theo’s abusive nature?

“Theo recently trapped Todd into staying with him by manipulating everyone into thinking that Todd was the aggressor in their relationship,” our Corrie source reminds us. “He also promised Todd they could enjoy a fresh start.

“During the busy Christmas period, though, it becomes very clear that Theo hasn’t really changed. How much more can Todd take? Is he any closer to realising the horrible truth about Theo’s behaviour?”

While Todd and Theo’s storyline will continue, it was recently confirmed that the latter would appear in Corriedale, the highly-anticipated crossover episode with fellow ITV soap Emmerdale.

Speaking ahead of the special, James Cartwright, who plays Theo, teased that his character would be up to no good, saying: “He does some things that are out of character that will surprise people… and then other things that people will expect from him!

“He’s a monster. Nobody thinks they’re a bad person and he does set out with the best of intentions, but I think his narcissism and verging on sociopathy is out of control. As things move along, he gets worse… Now he’s completely unredeemable.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
