Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell has seemingly confirmed that his character, Kevin Webster, will survive the Corriedale crossover in January. Speaking with The Mirror, the actor, who first joined the soap in 1983, revealed that he has signed a fresh contract for 2026.
“You can never take the job for granted. My contract was due in January and I’ve just been offered a new one, so I can breathe a sigh of relief for another year,” explained Le Vell.
“But you can never look beyond that. They might say ‘You know what, we can’t write for you, we don’t know what to write for you anymore. Thank you and goodbye.’ That’s the nature of the beast.”
With the TV star preparing for another 12 months on Corrie, it looks like Kevin will survive the upcoming crossover on 5 January.
After much anticipation, ITV has revealed that characters from Coronation Street and Emmerdale will find themselves in trouble after a multi-vehicle collision on a country road.

“Corriedale is just the start of the drama as the aftermath of the crash gives rise to fear, murderous intent, death, destruction, closely-guarded secrets and lies,” reads the synopsis for the crossover. “Life in Emmerdale and Weatherfield will never be the same again!”
Alongside Kevin, Corrie fans can also expect to see Abi Webster, Asha Alahan, Becky Swain, Betsy Swain, Billy Mayhew, Carl Webster, Carla Connor, Cassie Plummer, David Platt, Shona Platt, Debbie Webster, James Bailey, and Ken Barlow.

While details surrounding the crossover are limited, Le Vell has told The Mirror that it was “an honour” to appear in the episode, and that he shares scenes with several Emmerdale actors, including Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle) and Danny Miller (Aaron Dingle).
“The episode involved a lot of night shoots out on location and our trailers were next to each other, so the casts of the two shows were always having a cup of tea and a chat, which was fun. It’s very exciting; it was a great privilege to be a part of it,” he noted.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX. Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
