Bridgerton star Claudia Jessie has commented on a popular fan theory that teases which season her character Eloise will take the lead. During an exclusive interview with Digital Spy, Jessie was shocked to learn about the fandom’s Pall Mall theory that suggests Eloise will get her love story arc in season five.
“Crikey, wow,” responded the actor, when discovering that the season two scene in which the siblings play the game together had spiralled into something much more elaborate.
During said scene, Colin can be seen hitting his ball into the number three wicket, indicating that he would be the centre focus of season three (which has come into fruition).
Meanwhile, Benedict, having taken his shot before Colin, missed the number three wicket leading some to believe that his season would be delayed (hence his season four uptake). Eloise’s ball, however, rolled confidently into the number five wicket.
Speaking on the theory, Jessie told Digital Spy: “Listen, I love being in [Bridgerton], so much. You can probably tell I’m quite an excitable person.”
“I like this job a lot and… we know five and six are coming, right? It’s out there and chances are, it’s going to be one of us,” she continued, gesturing to Hannah Dodd, who plays Francesca. “Whenever the time comes, it’s going to be my absolute f-ing pleasure. I cannot wait.”

Showrunner Jess Brownell recently confirmed that both Francesca and Eloise would take the lead for seasons five and six during a red-carpet interview with Deadline.
“Both characters with the initials on my pocket squares will get seasons in five and six,” she said, referencing the ‘E’ and ‘F’ on her pocket squares. “In what order? I can’t say.”
In season two, Eloise had a brief romantic connection with the working-class printer’s apprentice Theo (Calam Lynch), but their relationship wasn’t able to flourish after their “associating” was outed in Lady Whistledown.

Eloise ended the fling before it really began when she became fearful of the possible consequence that Theo would face, putting her romantic arc on the backburner for some time.
Now, Benedict and maid Sophie Baek are set to fill that upper/working class romance void left behind by Eloise and Theo.
Speaking on exploring their on-screen love story this season, Sophie actor Yerin Ha told Metro: “It’s a blessing.
“I think it just really opens up whole new doors for Bridgerton. I think it grounds it. Makes it more realistic-ish. It’s less pretty and shiny and glamorous, which I think is quite nice.
“It’s the fourth season now, so it’s nice to have a change of energy and pace, so I’m excited for the audiences to see that.”
Bridgerton season 4 part one will air on Thursday 29 January with part 2 debuting on Thursday 26 February. Seasons 1-3 are streaming on Netflix, along with Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
