Sentimental Value, the acclaimed drama starring Renate Reinsve and Stellan Skarsgård, has finally confirmed its UK streaming date. With a stack of award nominations, this is one of the most lauded films from 2025.
The film, which is directed and co-written by Joachim Trier, sees Skarsgård portray Gustav Borg, a celebrated filmmaker who has a strained relationship with his two daughters, Nora (Reinsve) and Agnes (Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas).
After being estranged for several years, Gustav and his daughters reunite as he prepares a new project. He offers Nora the part but she declines, only to discover that the role has been taken up by Hollywood star Rachel Kemp (Elle Fanning).
After having its world premiere at the 78th Cannes Film Festival in May, Sentimental Value was theatrically released in the UK in December, and it has now been confirmed it will stream on Mubi from 13 February.
Mubi can be purchased for £11.99 per month, though you are able to snag a seven-day free trial. It can also be used as an add-on channel for existing Prime Video subscribers, where it is the same price. Furthermore, it can be pre-ordered on Amazon for £13.99.

Serving as Trier’s follow-up to The Worst Person in the World, the drama was acclaimed by critics upon its release, with Rotten Tomatoes currently reporting a near-perfect approval rating of 97% from 228 reviews.
“With strong performances from its entire cast, Sentimental Value successfully synthesizes metaphor and nuanced character drama to convey the way suffering ripples outward,” wrote AV Club, while British Vogue called it a “masterpiece”.
“Scene-setting unfolds at an assured and pleasurable pace, offering opportunities for all of the actors to set out the parameters of their performances as Trier delivers riffs on familiar film industry mores,” opined Sight & Sound.

In addition to its critical acclaim, the film has been a major contender on the awards circuit, with the drama being Norway’s entry for Best International Film at the upcoming 98th Academy Awards.
Not only did it secure a nomination in that category, but it also got nods for categories such as Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. All four aforementioned actors were also nominated for their performances, with the film accruing nine nods in total.
Sentimental Value will stream on Mubi from 13 February.
