EastEnders spoilers follow for Wednesday’s episode (11 February), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
EastEnders has revisited Jake Moon’s shocking death secret, as his Walford return asks questions about his missing brother Danny. As he reunites with Phil Mitchell, will the truth be exposed after almost two decades?
Viewers may or may not remember that back in 2006, Danny was tasked by Johnny Allen with assassinating Grant Mitchell. But to stop this brutal killing, Jake shot his own brother and inadvertently killed him.
It’s a dark secret that to this day only Grant and Phil know about, but the past has come back to haunt Jake on his return to Albert Square this week.
Having been manipulated by Kat into visiting his cousin Alfie, Jake eventually agreed to stay the night at The Vic. In today’s episode, things were still tense as Kat urged Jake to help track down Chrissie and get Zoe out of prison.

As the Moons continued to catch up, talk soon turned to Phil when Alfie explained that Kat was previously married to him before they found their way back to each other.
Unaware of his death 20 years ago, Alfie was keen to catch up with his other cousin Danny and asked Jake to get his brother to come round.
When Jake found out that Phil was still in Walford, he paid him a visit – and Phil was also surprised that he was still alive. Phil made it clear to Jake that he was eternally grateful for what he did for him and Grant all those years ago.

Jake was looking for reassurance that he did the right thing killing Danny, and while Phil couldn’t give him this, he instead gave him some very important advice.
“Maybe you did wrong by Danny that day, I don’t know,” he said. “But maybe you can spend the rest of your days doing right by the family that you have got left.”
Jake took Phil’s words to heart, so returned to The Vic and told Kat and Alfie that he would help them to find Chrissie. He sent Chrissie a text begging for another chance, in the hope that it would lure her back to Walford.

Alfie continued to ask after Danny, and Jake was overwhelmed with the guilt of keeping this secret from his cousin.
But to Kat’s delight, Jake then received a text from Chrissie, who agreed to meet up with him. Will Chrissie show up, and if so, how will this showdown unfold?
EastEnders airs on Mondays–Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
