Jennifer Aniston turns 57 on Feb. 11

The Morning Show star has shared that she’s changed her exercise routine over time

When it comes to her diet, she’s said she follows an 80/20 plan, where 80% of the time she eats a balanced diet, and indulges for the remaining 20%

Jennifer Aniston turns 57 on Feb. 11 — and as the Friends alum has shared, she’s adjusted her workouts and diet as she ages.

The Morning Show star previously told PEOPLE that she’s “smarter about how I’m working out,” explaining that she pivoted from high-impact workouts to low-impact, resistance-based training program Pvolve.

“I used to think a workout meant you just got to sweat for an hour to 45 minutes, whether it’s running around a room, doing aerobics or running on a treadmill — 45 minutes of cardio. Otherwise, it’s useless,” she said. “I’m just so grateful that’s not true.”

As she explained, “You have to really honor where your body is, which I’ve gotten so much better at as I’ve gotten older.”

As for her diet, Aniston describes her approach as an 80/20 plan — meaning, 80% of the time, she eats healthy, balanced meals. Then, 20% of the time, “I give myself days where I can have whatever I want. I don’t deprive myself,” she told Today.

As she previously told PEOPLE, she starts her day with a shake, which includes “bananas, cherries, blackberries, a greens powder, a collagen peptide, a little cacao powder, chocolate stevia drop and chocolate almond milk.”

“You can see I like chocolate-flavored,” the newly minted children’s book author said. “I don’t like protein taste.”

Apart from morning coffee, apple cider vinegar mixed into water, and her shakes, she drinks water throughout the day: “I’ve become so hyper aware of people who don’t drink water now because I’ve always been such a water drinker,” she told PEOPLE at the time.

On weekends is when the 20% rule comes in, she told Women’s Health. “I do whatever I want,” Aniston said, explaining, “I’ll allow myself pizza or a burger or pasta or something extra special.” Otherwise lunch and dinner are the “same thing, vegetables and protein, in some form that’s interesting and delicious” — like roasted chicken or grilled fish.

Her cravings, she explained to Today, are more salty than sugary: “It would be a cheeseburger and fries or Mexican food, pasta, pizza — all the stuff that’s savory. I’m not a sweets person. I don’t go for ice cream or cakes,” she said. “I definitely have a savory tooth.”
