Coronation Street spoilers follow from Wednesday’s episode (18 February), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube, but hasn’t yet aired on ITV1.
Coronation Street has confirmed Lauren Bolton as the latest target of Maggie Driscoll’s wrath – but with a shock death on the way, could the tables ultimately turn on the spiteful matriarch? Maggie was recently named as one of the characters who could be killed off in April, so fans are sure to watch her scenes closely in the next two months.
Earlier this week, Maggie was signposted as one of five regular characters who may lose their life in a major plot twist. Betsy Swain finds a body just hours after Lisa and Carla’s long-awaited wedding ceremony, casting a shadow over the day of celebration.
Maggie already has a history of upsetting people with her cutting remarks, including members of her own family. But it seems that, for now, Lauren is the main focus of her attention.
In tonight’s episode, Maggie confirms that she’s been meddling with the Rovers Return rotas to restrict Lauren’s chances of spending time with Ollie.

As far as Maggie is concerned, Lauren simply isn’t good enough for her beloved grandson – and she’ll do whatever she can to keep them apart.
“Lauren is a misery guts single mother from a bad family and has a terrible history with men,” Maggie complains in a chat with Ben and Eva. “That might be fine for some people, but not for my grandson.”
And showing that she still has it in for Eva too, Maggie quips: “Mind you, he wouldn’t be the first man in this family to be blinded by an airhead bottle-blonde with no concept of modesty.”
Later, malicious Maggie takes her concerns directly to Ollie – putting him on the spot with a series of cruel jibes about Lauren’s past and their suitability as a couple.

Ollie tries to bat away his grandmother’s comments, but we suspect she’s only just getting started when it comes to antagonising Lauren…
Given Maggie’s history of lashing out, could a showdown with Lauren ultimately go horribly wrong by backfiring on her? Or could someone in Maggie’s own family strike out in the heat of the moment? Viewers should definitely watch closely to see if Maggie is being set up for a revenge twist.
Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Megan Walsh and Theo Silverton have been named as the other four characters in danger of being killed off when Lisa and Carla’s wedding takes place on 23 April.
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
