A mother-of-seven who tipped the scales at 14 stone has shed two-and-a-half stone with the help of an app – and she’s now relishing clothes shopping once more. Sarah Glascoe, 43, from Manchester, attributes her remarkable transformation to the Simple app and now feels ‘healthier inside and out’.

She said: “To date, I’ve lost 36 lbs (2.5 stone) and dropped three dress sizes. I now love shopping for clothes again! Under my GP’s advice, I’ve reduced my blood pressure medication and stopped taking cholesterol tablets altogether.

“I’m sleeping better, feeling healthier inside and out, and happier than I’ve been in years.” Whilst Sarah mentioned she still has one stone to lose before reaching her target weight, she revealed she shed the pounds using the Simple app after attempting ‘countless diets and fitness plans.’

Simple is touted as ‘a clinically proven weight loss tool’ that has assisted users in losing over 18 million pounds. One of its appealing features is the absence of restrictive dieting – users simply complete a quiz and Simple will construct a personalised plan, reports the Mirror.

Additionally, currently, Simple is offering new users 80% off weight loss plans using the code ‘REACH’. There’s also an interactive ‘furry companion’ named Blinky, designed to keep users motivated and accountable whilst monitoring their journey.

The application includes food logging capabilities, which can be completed via typing, voice commands or photographs, an intermittent fasting monitor, a NutriScanner to assist users in understanding their food’s nutritional content, plus daily exercise routines.Alongside Blinky is Avo – the in-app coach and personal wellness aide, driven by AI, which can address users’ queries and provide support throughout.

For Sarah, she explained the weight “slowly crept on with each pregnancy”, from the age of 18, until she reached 14 stone. She said she attempted numerous other diets and fitness programmes, but “nothing ever worked long-term” – until she came across Simple whilst browsing on her phone one evening.

She said: “I discovered the Simple app and decided to give it a try – without expecting much. I began my journey on July 10, 2025, weighing 14 stone, and within the first week, I was amazed to see a 5lb loss and a noticeable boost in energy.

“As fasting became part of my everyday routine, I naturally started making healthier choices, and the weight kept coming off. Soon, I could walk farther without needing my asthma inhaler, and exercise began to feel easier and more enjoyable.”

Since shedding two-and-a-half stone, Sarah expressed that she feels ‘happier’ than ever and intends to continue integrating fasting into her lifestyle. However, if Simple doesn’t suit everyone, there are other options available – such as MyFitnessPal.

This is an ‘all-in-one food, exercise, and calorie tracker’, with the premium version currently priced at £19.99 a month. Alternatively, there’s Noom, which claims to utilise science and personalisation to assist users in losing weight and ‘keeping it off for good’.

They provide a range of plan durations to align with each user’s objectives, lifestyle, and budget. However, users have given glowing reviews for Simple. On Trustpilot, it has achieved an average score of 4.3 out of five, from over 36,000 reviews, earning it an overall rating of ‘Excellent’.

One user said: “I love that I just scan my meals and all of the calculations are done. The AI coach is so helpful without being intrusive. The exercises are short, so it’s something anyone can do.

“Weight is coming off slowly but it went on slowly too. I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to feel better.”

A second wrote: “I love the app, the coach guides you in your meals and the exercise. And it lets you decide what you want to eat, with food you like. The coach gives you recipes. I feel great.”

Others provided feedback on the app, with one commenting: “I love the app for fasting. Not so much for tracking food.”

Another user stated: “I like the tracking but the programme could work more smoothly or (be more) user friendly for us seniors. I also like talking to a bot instead of a person because I don’t worry about personal judgement.”

However, overall, most were satisfied as another expressed: “First app out of hundreds I’ve downloaded and paid for that I’ve actually used and two weeks later consistently using it and losing weight daily. I’m really chuffed.”
