With the Call the Midwife finale (airing on Sunday, 8 March) set to leave viewers “a mess”, at least according to star Helen George, we’re going to need something in our telly diet that will fortify us for the emotions to come. As such we have prepared our weekly list of TV treats to make you laugh, cry and feel deeply.

And if you’re not a Call the Midwife enthusiast, and said finale isn’t on your watch list, then you simply get to enjoy what else is in store. Prepare to be thoroughly entertained by a mix of thrillers, romantic dramas and plenty of action, as this week’s line up includes the return of The Capture, which fans on IMDb have described as a “mind-blowing” crime series that is “delivered to perfection“. “How do you protect the truth, in a world where lies are daily currency?” asks the synopsis for BBC’s The Capture as it enters its third season, with Holliday Grainger’s DI Rachel Carey about to figure that out.

Fresh off of events from season two, Carey finds herself drawn deeper into the “geopolitical crisis that infects the British political establishment, the security services, and the media”, the description for the drama, created and written by Ben Chanan, continues.

The question is who is behind it all and who can she trust? The series also stars Gangs of London’s Paapa Essiedu as Isaac Turner and Death in Paradise’s Ginny Holder as DI Nadia Latif.

The Capture, season 3 is available to watch from Sunday 8 March at 9pm on BBC One and 6am on BBC iPlayer.

With a ton of thrillers under her belt, the impeccable Eve Myles is back again with new chilling series Gone.

The star of Broadchurch and The Crow Girl is back on our screens, this time starring as detective Annie Cassidy, who has been tasked with looking into the disappearance of a Bristol woman called Sarah.

The husband, David Morrissey’s Headmaster Michael Polly, is suspect number one. Once an upstanding member of the community, now Michael’s world is slowly falling apart at the seams when he meets Annie who, according to the synopsis, “chips away at his veneer in search of the truth”.

Gone is available to watch on Sunday 8 March at 9pm on ITV1 and will also be available to stream on ITVX.

Rachel Weisz stars as an English professor who develops an all-consuming infatuation for her new, younger colleague Vladimir (Leo Woodall).

Netflix describes the series as being “full of sexy secrets, dark humour and complex characters” as a woman becomes “hell-bent to turn her fantasies into reality”.

Vladimir is available to watch from Thursday 5 March on Netflix.

From the world of Yellowstone comes the spin-off Marshals. The new series follows Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) who leaves the world of the Yellowstone Ranch behind him and sets off to become a member of an elite unit of the US Marshals.

Kayce’s new venture will have him combining his skills as a cowboy with that of his Navy SEALs experience, but it will not be easy.

Along with his teammates Kayce will have to juggle duty against family as well as the psychological strain that comes with being the last line of defence.

Marshals is available to watch from Monday 2 March on Paramount+.

Starting out life on YouTube, the Black British relationship series has now been transformed into a new eight-part reality series for Netflix. As per the press release, Blue Therapy invites “viewers into the therapy room to witness couples navigating intensive and intimate therapy in real time”.

Under the guidance of experienced couple’s therapist Karen Doherty, the seven couples hope to explore the problems in their relationship with “accountability, vulnerability and emotional truth”.

Blue Therapy is available to watch Wednesday 4 March on Netflix.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, Young Sherlock promises to be an “irreverent, action-packed mystery that charts the legendary origin story of the world’s greatest detective”, at least according to its synopsis.

The series follows a young, charismatic but defiant Sherlock Holmes (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) as he crosses paths with the infamous James Moriarty (Dónal Finn).

Soon he is dragged into a murder investigation that threatens his very freedom. The synopsis teases “a globe-trotting conspiracy” for Sherlock’s first ever case that culminates in “an explosive showdown that alters the course of his life forever”.

Young Sherlock is available to watch from Thursday 4 March on Prime Video.
