If you think you haven’t heard of Ejae, think again. The 34-year old musician is one of the voices in K-Pop Demon Hunters, the wildly successful animated Netflix hit that has, to date, amassed more than 500 million views worldwide. Ejae plays Rumi, one-third of Huntrix, the K-pop girl group who lead double lives as demon hunters. Not only does Ejae sing the songs, she wrote a lot of them, too, and is now enjoying the results of producing a viral hit on one of the world’s biggest streaming platforms.
Those results include being invited to her first-ever fashion show – Jonathan Anderson’s autumn/winter 2026 collection for Dior, no less. So, Ejae flew from her home in New York to Paris, where Anderson showcased his latest collection in the Jardin des Tuileries on an unseasonably warm early spring afternoon.

Ahead of her appearance on the front row, Ejae invited us to get ready for the show with her. While she sat for hair and make-up, before dressing in her Dior menswear look, she discussed how it feels to be part of such a popular Netflix hit, why eyeliner is her secret to feeling beautiful and the best beauty advice she’s ever received.
Talk us through your look today. What drew you to it and why does it feel like a good fit for you?
“Today I went for an elevated casual look. I’ve loved my recent red-carpet dresses, but I wanted to showcase a different side of my style today, so I chose a look from Dior’s men’s collection. I added some fun accessories and switched up my make-up look to balance out the masculinity of my outfit.”

How does the event you’re attending impact the look that you choose?
“I’ve been getting dressed for a lot of black tie galas lately, which has been so fun, but this was an opportunity to still be fashion-forward while nodding to a more casual, tomboy look that I also really like wearing.”
Did you ever expect K-Pop Demon Hunters to be such a global phenomenon? How does it feel to have helped create and star in such an incredibly successful movie?
“I definitely didn’t expect the success whatsoever. I know the whole movie team – Maggie Kang, Chris Applehans, Michelle Wong, everyone – we just feel so proud of the work that we did, and so appreciative of all the love from all the fans.”
Why does Dior feel like a good fit for you and your personal style? And how do you typically decide which brands you’d like to work with?
“Jonathan Anderson’s collections with Dior have really stood out to me. I love how he’s so fluid with blending femininity and masculinity.”
How involved do you tend to be in the styling process and who is the stylist that you worked with today?
“It’s very collaborative work with my incredible creative directors, Jeffrey Jin and Theo Song. It’s always so much fun working with them since they have such a clear and sharp vision, but also always listen to what I’m comfortable with and what I feel good in.”
What kind of fashion makes you feel most confident?
“I would say I feel most confident when I’m blending styles: I love wearing masculine clothes in a bit of a girlish way.”

What has your job taught you about style?
“It’s taught me the importance of experimenting. In music, I like to experiment with my vocals or vocal production, so even with clothes and style, I like to experiment with different sides of myself.”
Do you see your beauty look as an extension of your outfit?
“Absolutely. Again, I like this cool masculine look today, so with the make-up, we wanted to go a little bit more fierce but still feminine. For the hair, I think it balances out the strong make-up with more of a softer look.”
What’s the best beauty tip that you’ve ever been given?
“I think the best beauty tip I was given is pertaining to the foundation of your skin. I’m not talking about skin foundation like the make-up – more the importance of inner glow, which is from being healthy, treating yourself well, drinking lots of water.”

Whose style have you always admired?
“Rihanna is such an icon – I always look to her when it comes to being avant-garde. But also, I find style inspiration in cities. When I come to Paris, I love people-watching. It’s so cool and different from New York; the city has its own aesthetic and I get inspired by that. Cities like Seoul, Tokyo, New York and Paris have all influenced my style.”
What’s your ideal getting-ready setup?
“I like to start with finding a nice tune to listen to, and then having a good mirror. I need good light, that’s most important.”
When do you feel most beautiful?
“I feel the most beautiful when my make-up is on point, and my eyeliner is perfect!”

Why does what we wear matter?
“I think what you wear is truly an extension of yourself, and how you express yourself. Whether that’s just being comfortable, or whether that’s dressing loudly, I think it’s fun because you can find different sides of yourself and showcase different personalities with clothes.”
