The Affair, the “addictive” drama starring Ruth Wilson and Dominic West, is now streaming for free in the UK. With a star-studded cast and a twisty plot that keeps you guessing, this is an ideal binge-watch!

The series sees the pair portray Alison Bailey and Noah Solloway, who engage in an extramarital affair. Episodes are split between the perspective of each character, with memory bias being a factor.

Further instalments and seasons include the viewpoints of Cole (Joshua Jackson) and Helen (Maura Tierney), the respective partners of Alison and Noah, as the infidelity comes to light.

After premiering in 2014, the drama ran for five seasons and 53 episodes before its conclusion in 2019, and you can – partly – watch the story unfold as the first three seasons are available to stream on ITVX.

It’s been reported that the fourth season will be added to the service in the summer, while the fifth and final season will come next year. Either way, there’s enough to sink your teeth into with these 32 episodes so far.

Created by Sarah Treem and Hagai Levi, The Affair garnered acclaim throughout its run, with the first season winning the award for Best Drama Television Series and Best Actress in a Drama Television Series (for Wilson) at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards.

Though the second season wasn’t as popular on the whole, Tierney’s performance was widely lauded, with the actor picking up the award for Best Supporting Actress at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards the following year.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the series currently has an average approval rating of 85% across its five seasons, with the fourth having the best score of 91%. The first and second seasons both score 90%, while the third and fifth have 71% and 87% respectively.

The drama was similarly praised by viewers, with IMDb reporting an impressive average user rating of 7.9/10 from 52,000 logs. In one 10/10 review, one user called it the “best TV show ever” as they lauded the “superb writing and cast of actors”.

“It’s an addictive show to watch, certainly because the way the story is been told. The plot unfolds slowly by telling the story… Each character sees or remembers the story differently and that’s what made this show stands out from the rest,” wrote another viewer.

The Affair seasons 1-3 are streaming now on ITVX.
