Coronation Street‘s George Shuttleworth is terrified as he takes to the stand next week – but with his entire livelihood at stake, will he be found guilty of fraud?

Representing the claimant, Adam Barlow and Alya Nazir have promised their client a “no win, no fee” deal. So will they sit back and watch their neighbour be ruined?

“There’s no one who loves his work quite like George,” explains our cobbles source. “We all know he’s innocent. But with Adam and Alya desperate to win, they’ve completely shafted George…”

As his court date approaches, George is left feeling hopeless when he sees Adam and Alya leaving the pub with Damien Ripley, who he knows will testify against him.

Damien was previously planning to use Shuttleworth’s for his mum’s funeral, until Annie King warned him off, calling George a conman.

George begs Adam and Alya to drop Annie’s case, but they refuse. With Adam’s business in tatters, he also has plenty riding on the case.

“Adam doesn’t feel entirely comfortable going against George like this,” continues our insider. “Deep down, he must know that George is an honest man with an excellent reputation around the local community.

“Sometimes business has to come first, though – Adam believes that it’s his job to be there for the clients who seek out his professional help.”

In court, anxious George awaits the verdict, with Glenda and Christina by his side. With his reputation torn to shreds, this is George’s final chance to save his late father’s family business.

But on the other side of the courtroom, Adam is hungry for the win, knowing if they bring down George, he could rescue the law firm from the brink.

Will the judge accept Annie’s accusations? Or can George clear his name and save the funeral parlour?

Plus, will George ever find out that scheming Theo Silverton made matters worse by lying to Annie about his history?

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
