Coronation Street spoilers follow from Thursday’s episode (26 March), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet.

Coronation Street’s Theo Silverton finally slips up tonight as he shouts abuse at Todd Grimshaw – unaware that George Shuttleworth can hear every word.

The dramatic moment plays out as George pays a visit to Todd at the flat, desperate for answers about the surprise wedding from the day before.

When Theo returns home, he hears noises from the bathroom and assumes that Todd is inside. True to form, he hurls cruel comments about Todd’s appearance, hoping to further erode his self-esteem.

Suddenly, Todd arrives at the front door having popped out for some teabags. Theo is utterly horrified as George emerges from the bathroom, shaken by what he’s overheard.

“It’s funny, isn’t it?” George asks. “You can go to bed with Dr Jekyll, but wake up with Mr Hyde.”

Although George holds back from saying exactly what he thinks, aware that it could do more harm than good, he quickly speaks to Summer Spellman to let her know what’s been happening behind closed doors.

“That wasn’t a wedding,” George says, reflecting on Theo’s cruel stunt from the previous day. “That was a kidnapping. Who did Todd have for his big day? Gary and Maria. He would have wanted us there, me and you.”

Summer asks George whether he believes Theo would ever be violent towards Todd, prompting him to reply: “I’m afraid I do. If he hasn’t already. Cast your mind back – the last five, six months. Todd’s been all over the shop.

“We’re the only family he’s got. We need to get him away from that monster.”

When Todd later receives a supportive message from George, offering him a place to stay because he’s clearly not safe with Theo, he decides to ignore the text and carry on as normal.

But with Todd’s loved ones now starting to rally round, is it the beginning of the end for Theo?

Coronation Street is working on Todd and Theo’s story with support from Galop, the LGBTQ+ anti-abuse charity. For more information and resources, visit the charity’s website or contact the national helpline on 0800 999 5428.

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
