Coronation Street spoilers follow, while this article contains discussion of grooming.

Coronation Street has released a first-look clip of next week’s episodes, as Tim Metcalfe has to confront his past once again following the recent revelations about Will Driscoll.

Last year, Tim’s former flame Trisha Pinkerton turned up on the Cobbles, and he had a great time reminiscing about how he lost his virginity to her when he was 14 and she was 20.

He brushed off any concerns his friends had about their ages at the time, and in Monday’s (30 March) episode, when Sally brings it up again in relation to Will being groomed by his sports coach Megan Walsh, he still thinks his experience was different.

As we see in the clip, Will’s dad Ben overhears this and asks what they’re on about. Tim is quick to plead that he was happy to have slept with an older woman, calling himself “a rat up a drain pipe”.

Ben doesn’t agree. “You were still a kid”, he says. “Megan took advantage of Will, and manipulated him. Took what she wanted from him even though he wasn’t mature enough to make those decisions.”

As he walks off, it’s clear that Tim’s insistence about what happened has started to falter.

Tim does start to take action following this discussion, and you can find out more about that right here.

Producer Kate Brooks previously explained that Tim will come to be there for Will, but it could take a while.

“Tim will see Will and how young and vulnerable he actually is – and how wrong the situation is”, she said.

“He will start to realise that actually what happened to him wasn’t right and wasn’t acceptable. So we’ve got quite a way to go with it, but it’s going to be a really interesting journey to take Tim on.”

Coronation Street has worked on Will and Megan’s grooming storyline with support from Barnardo’s. Support and information is available via the charity’s website.

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX and YouTube.
