Emmerdale’s Charity Dingle continues to struggle with her lies next week, as her granddaughter Sarah Sugden looks forward to the baby’s arrival. With the little one set to make an appearance any day now, Sarah is thrilled when Charity decides to throw her a baby shower.
However, it’s just another way for Charity to deal with the guilt over lying to Sarah regarding who the unborn child’s parents are…

Still oblivious to the truth, Jacob and Sarah thank Charity for the gesture and for everything she’s doing.
With the pressure mounting, will Charity finally confess her huge betrayal? Or will she continue to make matters worse by prolonging her lies?
“Charity wants everything to seem as normal as possible,” explains our Emmerdale source. “In an ideal world, there’d be no secrets and lies, allowing everyone to look forward to the baby’s arrival.
“Plagued with guilt over everything she’s hiding, Charity uses the baby shower as the perfect distraction. But it’s clearly not going to help her in the long run…”

Last year, Emmerdale revealed that the baby Charity is carrying for Sarah and Jacob was actually conceived when she slept with Ross Barton.
The secret is a ticking timebomb that will blow lives apart later this year – and Charity’s marriage to Mackenzie Boyd may not survive.
Speaking earlier this year, Emmerdale’s producer Laura Shaw teased: “The truth surrounding Charity’s pregnancy is set to blow wide open.
“The secret that Ross is the real father is still under wraps. With the baby due in spring, the birth may be the event that finally exposes all of Charity’s secrets…”

Emma Atkins, who plays Charity, has also said: “It’s almost like a mirror image of what Mack and Chloe did to Charity. You can draw parallels on this. So, in some ways, Charity would have a good argument.
“She would have something in her arsenal that she’d say to Mack, ‘Actually, you’re going to have to forgive me because of what you did to me’. However, life isn’t like that, is it?
“I don’t know whether there is any coming back from this, but it will be good TV because it will simmer for a while. And then obviously, we know that secrets and lies do have a way of coming out, one way or another…”
