Donny Clark received a dangerous threat on Hollyoaks as he investigated the apparent death of Clare Devine. With the mystery deepening, who urged the former police officer to stay away from the situation?

The villainous Clare was pushed off a cliff by Sienna Blake, though the latter has shifted the blame onto an unsuspecting Cleo McQueen. Only Warren Fox knows about Sienna’s crime and subsequent deceit, with Cleo incorrectly believing that she’s guilty.

Donny, however, doesn’t think the various stories are lining up, and has attempted to get to the bottom of the matter. In Monday’s (13 April) episode, he was turned away by a stressed Cleo, while Warren urged him to not look too closely.

Tonight’s instalment of the Channel 4 soap began with Jenson Cole asking Warren whether he killed Clare. Jenson had spotted his half-brother talking to Donny earlier in the day, but Warren wasn’t letting slip.

Donny returned home from some investigating, though he was criticised by Misbah for returning to his old habits. She accused him of caring about Clare despite her villainy, though Donny said he merely enjoyed playing detective again.

Donny drowned his sorrows by the bonfire, and told Gemma that he was struggling to fight down his urge to self-sabotage. As Misbah arrived, Donny got his biggest threat yet as a glass bottle came hurtling towards the trio.

The bottle had a note inside, with a message demanding that he “forget about Clare”. With several villagers, including Sienna and Warren, wanting things to be kept quiet, could they be responsible for the threat?

Or, with Jenson having some idea about Donny and Warren’s interactions, could he have taken matters into his own hands? Alternatively, could Misbah have called in a favour to have her husband-to-be see reason?

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
