We all know what it’s like to have a busy week. Whether it’s work, errands, parenting demands or (as is so common) a mixture of all three, it can be tricky to keep the tank fuelled and remain healthy while keeping on top of it all. As a mum of three and a working royal, The Princess of Wales will be all too familiar with this balance, but we think we’ve spotted one of her secrets – a drink boasting health benefits which won’t break the bank.

For the wedding of Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips to Harriet Sperling on 6 June, The Princess of Wales was snapped getting out of the car outside All Saints’ Church in Kemble, England. Sitting in the pocket of her door, the top of a drink is just visible and eagle-eyed observers have recognised it as a carton of Vita Coco Original Coconut water, which costs just £2.50 (500ml, at Tesco).

The brand highlights a number of healthy qualities in the drink, including being high in potassium and vitamin C while being low and calories, with zero fat or cholesterol. It’s also great for those with certain dietary requirements, as it’s gluten and dairy free. According to the NHS, vitamin C is important for keeping the cells in our skin, blood vessels, bones and cartilage healthy and protected, while also helping heal any wounds. Meanwhile, potassium is necessary in the body to help keep our hearts, nerves and muscles functioning properly and assisting nutrients moving around the body.

Vita Coco’s coconut water describes itself as ‘nature’s sports drink’ and can be drunk on the go, like Kate, used as a base for smoothies and even – if you’re feeling less health-orientated! – in cocktails. We know that The Princess has been avoiding alcohol since she’s been recovering from her cancer treatment, so it’s unlikely she’s been using it for this purpose. With the carton sitting within easy access in her car door, it seems likely she was enjoying it for a hydrating boost on her way to the busy event.

As well as attending Peter and Harriet’s wedding earlier this month and the weekend’s Trooping the Colour, The Princess joined Prince William, King Charles and Queen Camilla (among others) for the Order of the Garter (Tuesday 16 June). The special service took place at Windsor Castle to honour ‘those who have held public office, who have contributed in a particular way to national life or who have served the Sovereign personally,’ according to the Royal Family’s official social media account.
