If you’re looking for a good new mystery thriller, then French series Sea Shadows may be one to add to your watchlist. The supernatural show premiered in its native country last year, and became one of the biggest shows of the year.
According to Deadline, it was one of the most-watched scripted shows on France 2, and UK-based fans can thankfully now catch it.
Sea Shadows (known as Rivages in France) is now streaming on Channel 4 via the Walter Presents label, with viewers able to watch for free with ads.

The series focuses on a marine scientist called Abigail, who returns to her hometown of Fécamp to look into a shipwreck. However, the disaster causes tensions between various groups, including fishermen and environmental activists – though a greater danger lies below the ocean in the form of a mysterious entity.
The series stars Elle’s Fleur Geffrier alongside Andor’s Thierry Godard, King & Conqueror’s Jean-Marc Barr and Alpha’s Christophe Perez, and comes from creators Monica Rattazzi and Jonathan Rio.
Sea Shadows was called “an unusual and surprisingly effective mystery French series” by one viewer on IMDb, where it holds a 6.0/10 rating from fans.
“The beauty of that series is that it work[s] at many levels. It is intriguing, suspenseful, emotional, surprising and social,” they added.

Walter Presents has plenty more non-English language shows available, including Danish drama Chorus Girls, which follows eight female chorus dancers at Copenhagen’s Circusrevyen revue theatre and charts their struggles in a male-dominated industry.
The ’70s-set show looks at themes including financial inequality, sexism and domestic violence, as well as a surge in feminism.
