Clarkson’s Farm star Harriet Cowan has celebrated a major milestone after leaving the Prime Video series. The nurse and farmer originally appeared on the show during season 4 to fill in for farm manager Kaleb Cooper.
Despite having never watched a full episode, Harriet quickly became a fan favourite, thanks to her no-nonsense attitude and quippy remarks. After leaving the show, she decided to start her own YouTube channel Harriet on the Farm, chronicling her weekly adventures.
The channel was launched back in August and now, a year on, it boasts more than 35,000 subscribers, plus over one million views. Fans have been eager to follow Harriet’s journey as she left nursing to pursue farming full time.

“It’s true. I am no longer nursing because it appears I got the bug,” she explained in her very first Q&A video. “The farming bug. And I’ve always had it, but before I didn’t really have any other incomes.”
One of the reasons Harriet was so popular among viewers was her desire to challenge stereotypes regarding farming.
She previously spoke about her experiences as a female farmer with the BBC, telling them she’s “trying to change the norm”.
“I think when you talk to somebody and ask what they stereotypically think of when someone says farmer they say ’60-year-old man with a checked shirt and a beer belly’, and a lot of the time that is it, but us women are out here and farmers too.

“Just because I’m a small blonde who likes to curl her hair and wear make-up, it doesn’t mean I can’t be a farmer. I’m trying to change the norm of the man being the farmer and the woman being the stay-at-home wife and cook.”
She added: “When the war was on, women did all the farming, so we have always farmed – it’s just changing that stereotype.”
