If you were disheartened by Pride & Prejudice leaving both Netflix and BBC iPlayer in recent times, then fret not, as the beloved period drama has just found a new streaming home in the UK.
Deborah Moggach’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s 1813 novel of the same name sees Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen in the central roles as Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy, with the film depicting their tumultuous romance.

The period drama garnered four nominations at the 78th Academy Awards, including Best Actress for Knightley. At the 59th BAFTAs, it was nominated for Best British Film, while Blethyn got a nod for Best Supporting Actress.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film currently has an impressive approval rating of 87% from 189 reviews, while the audience score is even higher at 90%. On IMDb, the average user rating is a solid 7.8/10 from 381,000 logs.
“Upon first consideration of this film, I had thought it was a wonderful adaptation of the book,” wrote one user. “It wasn’t until I had gone deeper into the movie that I realized its significance, and how it is truly not talked about enough.
“The dialogue is both refreshing and quick. The directing is without a doubt superb. Additionally, Knightley and Macfadyen do a wonderful job in their respective roles,” they continued in their 9/10 review.
Another viewer echoed these sentiments as they praised the film’s visuals, writing: “The first thing I must say is that it is exquisitely photographed. The atmosphere set by the beautiful cinematography, is perfect.”
