It’s definitely been challenging but incredibly uplifting! I’m learning a whole new skill set – despite starting with two left feet – all for a cause that means so much to us.
How do you think you will feel on the night?
Amazing! That is the aim, but right now it seems a bit daunting. After all the weeks of rehearsals and fun, I’m looking forward to the excitement of the night.
What is your dancing experience?
Zero, unless you count our wedding dance back in the day and playing a statue in my daughter’s ballet recital.
How would you describe your partner?
Honestly, my wife is amazing – super hardworking, constantly striving for the best, and genuinely one of the most caring and fun-loving people. I love her to bits and can’t wait to get out there and dance with her.
What is the highlight of the process so far?
There have been a few, like meeting the other dancers and learning a brand new skill set. But sharing this experience with my wife while raising funds for hospice has been a major highlight to date.

Why are you dancing?
Helloworld Travel Rotorua takes pride in supporting our community so when we were asked to participate, I felt incredibly honoured for the opportunity to support such a worthwhile cause. Being able to dance with my husband was just the icing on the cake.
What has the experience been like so far?
It’s been fantastic so far. I’ve really enjoyed meeting new people, getting to know the Rotorua Community Hospice team and embracing a new challenge.
How do you think you will feel on the night?
Definitely a mix of excitement and nerves for sure. More than anything, I hope to feel immensely proud – proud that we did our dance justice and that our efforts contributed to raising vital funds for hospice.
What is your dancing experience?
I’ve been part of the AMJAZZ dance family for many years but this new style of dance we’re learning is uncharted territory. It’s been challenging but enjoyable.
How would you describe your partner?
Dancing as a couple with my husband is a dream come true for me. I’ve wanted to do this for years, but time hasn’t allowed in our busy lives. Watching him step completely outside his comfort zone, put himself out there and trust the process makes me so proud. I’m just so grateful he took this leap with me and embraced the experience.
What is the highlight of the process so far?
The sense of camaraderie and commitment from the dancers and teachers is amazing and highlights a massive sense of purpose for this incredible cause.
Being able to dance alongside my husband and share this fantastic experience together is an absolute highlight, and I’m so grateful for this opportunity.
