Disney+ and Hulu have just shared the news that all armchair detectives have been waiting for as Only Murders in the Building has finally confirmed a release date for season 6, temporarily renamed Only Murders in London.
After months of exciting filming and casting updates, the new chapter of the murder mystery series led by Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez has announced it’ll be back on our streaming screens from 8 December.
The show, which has officially added Olivia Colman to its gang of brand-new guest stars, has also shared some first-look images of the protagonist trio on their UK investigation.

The five stills from the new season picture true crime podcasters Mabel (Gomez), Charles (Martin) and Oliver (Short) as they’re out and about in the British capital and even enjoy a mandatory cuppa.
Off the back of a shocking cliffhanger in season 5, the protagonists have crossed the pond to find the killer of their nemesis and fellow podcaster Cinda Canning, played by Tina Fey.
The comedian is set to reprise the role of Cinda in season 6 alongside a host of famous names from both sides of the Atlantic, including returning Only Murders star Meryl Streep and newcomers of the likes of Doctor Who’s David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker and Peter Capaldi and Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan and Simone Ashley.
More stars involved in the Arconia trio’s “hardest case yet” are comedians Jennifer Saunders and Richard Ayoade, Willow’s Amar Chadha-Patel, Heartstopper’s Rhea Norwood, Bad Sisters’ Sharon Horgan, The Imitation Game’s Matthew Beard, Andor’s Kathryn Hunter, and The Marlow Murder Club’s Adrian Lukis.

The new setting marks the first time the podcasters leave the US to unveil a killer, after the trio briefly traded NYC for Los Angeles in season 4.
John Hoffman, who co-created the series with Steve Martin, explained the reasoning behind the location change for the new batch of episodes, saying it arose from his desire to keep things “fresh”.
“There’s no way around a certain understanding of needing to freshen up a show. I mean, how many murders can be in one building?” Hoffman told The Hollywood Reporter, adding that it “felt like the right time” for a shake-up.

The official synopsis for the new season ominously teases that danger awaits Charles, Oliver and Mabel as they try to solve their next puzzle.
“Our beloved trio of true crime-solving podcasters must now navigate their way through the home of the cosy murder mystery, replete with a whole new collection of suspicious and particularly English-eccentric characters,” the synopsis reads.
“But can they follow in the footsteps of the woman whose podcast started it all for them… without having their story end the same as hers?”
Only Murders in the Building season 6 starts streaming on Disney+ and Hulu from 8 December. Seasons 1-5 are available on the same platforms now.
