“We routinely review our portfolio and have decided to close our dating website FindSomeone at the end of November,” Wade said in a statement.

“While not a decision made lightly, it aligns with our broader strategic priorities.
“We don’t break out user metrics for individual services within our portfolio, but our priority right now is ensuring all current members are supported through this transition.”
In the email sent to customers, FindSomeone said no new members will be able to join the service.
“Existing members can keep using the site until midnight on November 30, 2026. After that, FindSomeone will permanently close and won’t be accessible to anyone.”
Before the closure, the dating site encouraged customers to “use up your message packs”, which will not be credited or refunded when the site shuts, “save details of people you’d like to stay in touch with”, and “download anything you want to keep”.
“As you move conversations off our platform, stay aware of romance scams, especially if someone new is pushing for money or personal information,” it added.
“Thanks for being part of the FindSomeone community. It meant a lot to us too.”
FindSomeone, billed as “a great way for Kiwi singles to find their someone”, was created by musician Nigel Stanford in 2000 as a way to help his sister land a date.
“She’s now married with children – one of our many success stories,” the company said on its website.
The dating service was bought by Trade Me in 2001.
