Bridge said he had enjoyed being on ZB and would miss the Early Edition audience.
“Lisette is a terrific journalist; she’s a great friend of mine, and I know Early Edition listeners will be in good hands,” Bridge said.

“For me, this is a chance to put my full focus into Ryan Bridge TODAY and to keep building on what we’ve created with the show. It’s something I’m immensely proud of.”
NZME multimedia content managing editor Sarah Bristow said Bridge’s show was going from strength to strength.
The show started in late May last year, branded as Herald NOW. It rebranded to Ryan Bridge TODAY in early 2026 as part of a partnership with Sky, launching on ThreeNow in January and on free-to-air channel Three in August.
“Ryan has built a loyal and growing audience who start their day with him across all our platforms and we are thrilled to have him focus on the show,” Bristow said.
“It means we can build on that momentum, bring even more to our viewers every weekday morning and keep growing what has quickly become one of the country’s go-to morning news programmes.”
Newstalk ZB head of talk Will Maisey said Bridge had done a “fantastic job” … “we’re hugely grateful for the energy and passion he’s brought to ZB’s early mornings. Hosting Early Edition and then Ryan Bridge TODAY every weekday morning has been a big commitment”.
He said he was “absolutely thrilled” to have Reymer in the radio role.
“She’s one of the most accomplished journalists in the country and having someone of her calibre join the team is a real coup for ZB and for our audiences.”
Three News presenter and journalist Lisette Reymer is joining Newstalk ZB as Early Edition host.
Before joining Stuff, Reymer – like Bridge – was at Newshub.
In 2021, she was appointed Newshub’s Europe correspondent, and during her three years based in London, she reported from Ukraine, covered the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the coronation of King Charles III, the Israel-Gaza conflict and earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
She returned home in 2024 and has most recently been working as a senior correspondent and weekend news presenter for ThreeNews.
“Lisette has reported from the heart of some of the world’s most important stories, and she has a real gift for explaining what’s happening and why it matters to everyday New Zealanders,” Maisey said.
“That’s exactly what Early Edition is all about: giving listeners everything they need to know from home and abroad before their day gets going.
“She’s sharp, warm and curious and I know our listeners are going to love starting their mornings with her.”
