The empire is falling. What used to be the destination for the top CrossFit athletes in the space is currently experiencing a mass exodus. Roman Khrennikov is the latest Mayhem Athlete to leave CrossFit Mayhem this year.

“I want to let you know that I’m no longer a Mayhem athlete,” shared Khrennikov in an Instagram post this afternoon.

He added, “I feel that this chapter has come to a natural close, and now it’s time for me to build something of my own.”

Of course, Khrennikov did not share what that next chapter will entail.

The news of Khrennikov’s departure comes just days after he revealed that he was leaving Cookeville, Tennessee, and moving to Madison, Wisconsin. For Khrennikov, that is where he spent his first year in the United States after finally receiving his visa in 2022.

As for CrossFit Mayhem, Khrennikov marks the third major athlete to part ways with Rich Froning’s camp.

Haley Adams left for Brute leading up to Syndicate Crown while her boyfriend, Austin Hatfield, is now working with PRVN. Both Adams and Hatfield have returned to their hometowns.

Of course, there are still plenty of athletes training inside the walls of CrossFit Mayhem. Gui Malheiros and Paige Rodgers are the most notable, but there are still athletes who live in the surrounding area who make the trek to Cookeville frequently – Miley Wade, Quinn Robinson and Noah Wilson are just a few. (Don’t get mad if I left someone off the list).

Right now it feels like all the news is about Roman Khrennikov. From a late withdrawal from Rogue Invitational to moving to leaving Mayhem, it’s been quite the week.
