After a month of theorising, debating, and existing on tenterhooks between Friday and Wednesday, the second series of The Celebrity Traitors is done and dusted. And frankly, we feel a bit bereft.
What are we all supposed to do now? What will we use all that brain space no longer consumed by considering different routes Maya could take to win and deciding who we fancy more between Romesh Ranganathan and James Acaster for? We simply cannot continue on for a full year until another round.
It’s extremely good news, then, that we don’t have to wait quite as long as that. While the details of season three of The Celebrity Traitors are yet to be confirmed, we do know that a new series of the original and best version of the franchise, The Traitors, is coming to our screens fairly soon. Here’s what we know so far.
Will there be another series of The Traitors?

Short answer: yes! And more after that! In March of this year, The BBC stated it had ‘secured the future of the smash hit multi award winning psychological series The Traitors, confirming a new three-year deal that will keep both The Traitors and The Celebrity Traitors on BBC One and BBC iPlayer until at least 2030.’ Hooray!
More specifically, series five of the civilian version of the show has been confirmed to air in 2027, with reports that we can expect the first episode in January. Previous series have kicked off just after New Year’s Day, so we’d say you’re safe to expect it sooner rather than later.
Has series five of The Traitors already been filmed?

Also yes! When series four wrapped up, the BBC said the next batch of contestants would enter the castle in the summer of 2026. We also know that applications for series five opened on the 21st of September 2025 and closed on the 31st of May 2026, giving the BBC sufficient time to have already filmed the entire series – even if, as some people considered, the extreme heat this summer pushed the process later.
That means that right now, the players of The Traitors – and the winner(s)! – walk among us. Exciting, right?
Who is in the cast of series five of The Traitors?

This we do not know… yet! We can’t wait to find out. And then to immediately start various conspiracies about how they’re all secretly connected, so we can predict another moment as iconic as: ‘Paul just couldn’t be my son… but Ross is’.
While we don’t know who the players will be, we can rest assured that Claudia Winkleman will return as our Queen of the castle, and Ed Gamble will be back to present The Traitors: Uncloaked.
What about the next series of The Celebrity Traitors?

There will definitely be another series of The Celebrity Traitors. But we’ll have to wait a while to get any more details beyond that.
