Coronation Street spoilers follow from Friday’s episode (24 October).
Coronation Street has confirmed a new target for slippery Carl Webster amid his mounting money troubles. But as the scheming character turns his sights closer to home, will Abi finally see his true colours?
Shortly after Carl arrived on the cobbles, viewers learnt that he was hiding a hefty debt, which he tried to clear by stealing cars from Webster’s Autocentre. Carl then landed himself in more financial trouble after being blackmailed by Tracy Barlow, who discovered his affair with Kevin’s wife Abi.

When the affair was finally exposed, Abi was thrown out of her home and forced to move into reluctant Carl’s hotel room with her son Alfie. Carl was further unimpressed when newly-unemployed Abi revealed she wouldn’t be going after half of Kevin’s assets in the divorce.
In tonight’s episode, desperate Carl tried to persuade Dylan Wilson to steal another car for him, in a bid to get his hands on some “easy money”. He shared the details of the vehicle, but Dylan turned him down.

The interaction was seen by Abi, who chastised Carl for his dodgy scheme. Carl explained that their troubles would be solved if she got what she deserved from the divorce, but Abi told him she’d rather steal cars than take Kevin’s money.
With Carl in the toilet, Abi took a picture of the car’s details before being caught in the act by Debbie. After accusing her of being up to no good, Debbie followed her sister-in-law to Freshco’s car park.
Though Abi located the vehicle, she was soon plagued with guilt as she thought about losing her young son. Debbie began filming her in the car park but later realised it was actually another woman – meaning Abi had decided not to go through with the theft.

Abi returned to the hotel and was confronted by Debbie, who told Carl about Abi’s plan to steal the car. The mechanic denied the accusation while Debbie was around, but then admitted the truth to a shocked Carl.
Later, the hotel owner apologised to her brother, telling him she gets “confused” due to her dementia. After witnessing a booking error she had made earlier, Carl told her she was overworked and offered his help.
When Debbie accepted, Carl gleefully called Abi, declaring: “Our money worries have been halved.” Viewers then saw him attempting to log into the hotel’s accounts, presumably planning to steal from his sister.
How low will Carl stoop to get his money?
