Nutritionist Ryan Fernando claimed that Rohit Sharma might not look the fittest, but has great physical fitness, as proved in the yo-yo test.
For those wondering, how did Rohit Sharma manage to lose a ton of weight, and cleared his yo-yo test at the CoE in Bengaluru, nutritionist Ryan Fernando has the answers. The latter worked with the Indian ODI skipper and helped him regain the fitness. In a conversation on NDTV’s podcast, he also went on to reveal, that it wasn’t due to the much-hyped Ozempic.
Rohit Sharma Fully Fit
Fernando also went on to clarify that Rohit Sharma has excellent cardiovascular fitness, the results of which are visible on the field. As for the mass, it is through that, that the batter gets the power to hit those long sixes. “I worked with Rohit Sharma on his diet. He’s demonstrated excellent cardiovascular fitness. He recently passed the yo-yo test, which is the highest possible level.
Has Great Cardiovascular Fitness
“This measures endurance, agility, and match readiness. Now maybe his puffiness or his body composition does not appeal to us in India, but his results speak for themselves. So it’s very wrong for us to be judgmental. It’s like in India—you go to a party and somebody’s too skinny, somebody’s too fat, and you make fun of them. You need to understand that his extra mass has contributed to his strength, his power, and his sport-specific performance, which his results prove in their own right.”
Meanwhile, after his Test retirement, Rohit has been out of action for the last few months. He last played in national colors in March, where he led India to Champions Trophy triumph. Now, it is estimated that he will play the IND A vs AUS A series, followed by the ODIs in Australia in October.
