Aileen Gilroy and Jasmine Fleming could be a chance to suit up in Round 5.

Two Hawks will need to prove their fitness this week to be available for the Round 5 clash with the Adelaide Crows this weekend.

Aileen Gilroy and Jasmine Fleming are a chance to return from their respective hamstring and knee injuries this week, provided they make it through the week of training.

High Performance Manager Aaron Kellett detailed what the duo’s week will look like and established a return to play timeline for Kaitlyn Ashmore and Najwa Allen.

Aileen Gilroy (Hamstring) – Test

“She’s had a really positive week on the track, had a rehab skills clearance session today, some modified drills, and she’ll aim to full train on Thursday which’ll be the last step for availability for this weekend, so she’ll be a test for the week.”

Jasmine Fleming (Knee) – Test

“As I said last week, she’s progressed really well, ahead of what we expected at this stage. Another one who’s completed a rehab skills clearance stage, we’ll see how that knee pulls up tomorrow and that’ll drive our decisions for main training on Thursday and pending completion of that, will also potentially be available for this weekend.”

Kaitlyn Ashmore (Hamstring) – 3-5 weeks

“We just needed to do a bit of work understanding the nature of Kashy’s injury. She had a pretty insidious onset through the game against the Bulldogs, finished the game, was sore afterwards, we scanned that and we found a hamstring injury. We’re going to take between three and five weeks at this stage we think, to get that right. We won’t take any risks, but yeah, between three and five.

Najwa Allen (Hamstring) – 5-7 weeks

“Naj is a bit of a complex case, she’s had a number of recurrences on that hamstring, and she’s injured the same hamstring against the Bulldogs. So we’ll go pretty conservative with that type of injury, at this stage we’re somewhere between five and seven weeks, we think.”
