Wellsprings Leisure Centre and Blackbrook Leisure Centre and Spa, run by leisure operator Everyone Active in partnership with Somerset Council, will receive exciting makeovers as part of the refurbishment project, which is being funded by Everyone Active.

Both facilities will provide members with state-of-the-art equipment and an improved environment to stay active and reach their fitness goals as part of an investment of £340,000.

The gym areas at both leisure centres will also be redecorated and updated with new durable gym flooring to help create a motivating environment for members.

Blackbrook Leisure Centre and Spa will undergo refurbishment works to modernise its gym facility, closing from Monday, December 1, with works expected to last one week and reopening planned for Monday, December 8.

Upgrades to Wellsprings Leisure Centre will begin on Monday, December 8, with the refurbishment expected to take one week and gym areas set to reopen on Monday, December 15.

New Life Fitness cardio equipment, including treadmills, PowerMill climbers, cross trainers, exercise bikes and SkiErg trainers will be installed, as well as new strength training benches, plate-loaded glute drive machines and other plate-loaded kit to help boost workouts and wellbeing.

Mark Washington, contract manager, said: “We are thrilled to announce the fantastic refurbishments for both Blackbrook Leisure Centre and Spa and Wellsprings Leisure Centre, which will give these centres a new lease of life.

“The upgrades will enable us to offer new and improved facilities to help keep the local community active, inspiring people of all ages and abilities to achieve their health and fitness goals. We look forward to welcoming members through the doors following this exciting investment and unveiling these improved spaces to enjoy.”

Councillor Federica Smith-Roberts, Somerset Council’s lead member for community, said: “Our leisure centres are increasingly popular and these upgrades will make them even more attractive for our residents.

“The mental and physical wellbeing that comes from exercise is so important for people of all ages.”

The rest of the facilities at both centres will remain open during the works and be unaffected by the gym closures, with group exercise classes still taking place.
