Hollyoaks star Owen Warner has teased the possibility of returning to the Channel 4 soap after recently returning to the set and appearing on screen with some of his former co-stars. The character famously departed on horseback (to the sound of Taylor Swift, no less), but could he gallop back into the village?
The actor appeared on the behind-the-scenes chat show Hollyoaks Unwrapped to talk to Kieron Richardson and Malique Thompson-Dwyer, and as the final question of the show, he was asked if Romeo would be coming back.
“Greg Finnegan is back in the building, James is alive! He’s also Mr Bombproof, which means we’re getting James back at some point. Hopefully. Fingers crossed,” Kieron said.
He then asked Owen: “Romeo, is he at the stables with that horse for a long time or could you see him returning to Hollyoaks at some point?”
“In these situations I like to quote a great philosopher: Justin Bieber,” Owen replied. “Never say never.”

A very vague response there, but it’s good to know that Owen isn’t against the idea of Romeo coming back.
As Kieron mentioned, it looks like Romeo’s dad James Nightingale will be back for more after appearing in the 30th anniversary episodes.
While details are thin on the ground at the moment, it seems like we might not see him again right away, as soap bosses were waiting to see the response to his scenes in the 30th anniversary week before deciding whether to bring him back for more.
“I think there was an idea of getting a bit of a reaction and a read on whether it went down well. I think it has,” Gregory Finnegan exclusively told Digital Spy.

Elsewhere in the Unwrapped episode, Owen and Malique reminisced about their time on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and how nothing could really prepare them for it.
Owen said he wanted to see Kieron do it, but the Ste Hay actor batted away the idea, saying he was “petrified” of cats and can’t even go to Tenerife because of the cockroaches there, much to the pair’s confusion.
