EastEnders’ Nicola Mitchell is plunged into a nightmare next week when she goes into labour dangerously early. As recently announced, Nicola gives birth to a baby girl in dramatic circumstances. She and George face an agonising wait to see if their fragile daughter can survive her premature birth…
The week begins with George excitedly preparing to launch Knight Fusion, his new restaurant occupying the old Walford East site. After her unplanned pregnancy took her by surprise, Nicola decided to seal the deal with baby daddy George and invest in his business venture as a way of securing their child’s future.

It’s all systems go for George, but Harry has clocked that his mum hasn’t been her usual self, and questions why she’s in such a subdued mood…
“Harry wants to know why his mum appears so distracted,” begins our insider. “Backed into a corner, Nicola is forced to confess she hasn’t felt the baby move for a while, and she’s getting worried…”
An anxious Nicola explains she doesn’t want to stress George ahead of the launch, so Harry and Gina take her to the hospital to get checked out. Thankfully, tests confirm the baby is okay – but the drama is only just beginning…
Relieved to be told all is well with her unborn child, Nicola soon has more on her mind after she makes an intriguing discovery about Penny, leading to a tense showdown between the two mums-to-be.
With George still in the dark about the medical scare, Nicola is hit by a wave of searing pain and her fears that something is wrong come flooding back.

“Nicola doesn’t want to ruin George’s big event,” explains our source. “So when Harry notices his mum is off-colour, she refuses his offer to take her back to hospital. She slips away and goes home to rest, leaving George to enjoy his night. Back at the house, Nicola is terrified as contractions start – her baby is coming!”
The festivities at Knight Fusion are in full swing, but George is collared by Harry, who shares his concerns about his missing mother after revealing that she wasn’t feeling right earlier.
Heading home to see if she’s okay, George is stunned to find Nicola writhing on the floor, gripped by pain. The prospective parents head to the hospital, where Nicola frets it’s too early to go into labour as she dwells on the risks of a premature birth.

Doctors leap into action to deliver the little one as safely as possible, but complications soon arise…
“Nicola is told she has to have an emergency caesarean,” reveals our insider. “She’s terrified but knows this is her child’s only chance of survival. Once her daughter arrives she’s whisked into an incubator, with the devastated Nicola and George aren’t even allowed near her.”
With their daughter’s life hanging in the balance, all Nicola and George can do is pray she pulls through…
