The SATS Group, which operates the Elixia gym chain in Finland, has announced that it was targeted in a data security breach on 14 March.

The firm said it reported the incident to authorities and is investigating the situation with the help of cybersecurity experts.

However, the situation was more extensive than initially thought, according to SATS.

But at least so far, it said there are no indications that extensive data about its members was compromised.

“To date there are no indications that the company’s membership system is part of the incident,” the company said.

SATS Group owns a number of fitness chains, including SATS, Elixia, Fresh Fitness, SATS Yoga and Balance.

SATS Group has more than 270 fitness centres across Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, according to the firm. It has around 10,000 employees and more than 730,000 members.
