When Casio’s first ever full-sized Pokémon G-Shock first got announced in Japan, fans worldwide feared that the international releases would be organised via a similar luck-based lottery system as in Japan. Fortunately, at least in the UK and Europe, that wasn’t the case, and it was shared that the G-Shock would be much easier to get your hands on (even if it was a little pricier than in Japan).
The watch has now officially been released in the UK – and it sold out at a ridiculous speed. Given the hype and the fact that the limited edition model marks Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, it comes as no surprise that it went in a flash. However, it’s already reselling on the second-hand market, and flippers are asking for double the price.

According to second-hand marketplace StockX, the current lowest ask for the watch is £450, more than double the retail price in the UK, and triple the price you’d have had to pay for it if you won in the lottery in Japan.
The appeal makes complete sense: it’s made for two different sets of enthusiasts at once, both G-Shock and Pokémon fans were running to get their hands on one, and the relatively affordable price in the landscape of the watch world only makes it more desirable. If you’re willing to spend the £450 to get your hands on one, it might be better to do so sooner rather than later, in case they become increasingly rare.
