Movement Infrared Pilates is bringing a new form of exercise to a historic Buffalo building.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A new fitness studio is bringing the heat to one of Buffalo’s most historic buildings.

Movement, an infrared pilates and yoga studio, is getting ready for its Grand Opening at 1786 Main Street in the Monroe Building, once home to the Monroe Motor Company and later the iconic Record Theatre.

“In the last spot to be filled in the building, and we are called Movement,” Founder Natalie Moscato said. “We’re bringing a new contemporary form of exercise to the community.”

Movement offers three types of classes: power yoga, pilates sculpt, and a signature class that blends the best of both.

“Our signature class will be a blend of all three,” Moscato said. “They will include sculpt elements, yoga elements, and pilates as well.”

Classes at Movement are heated with infrared panels hanging from the ceiling.

“It warms objects instead of warming the air,” Moscato explained. “That brings a slow warmth to your muscles as you are  beginning to exercise so that you can get into deeper stretches and more powerful poses.”

Each class is designed to be a full sensory experience, complete with candlelight, energizing playlists, and chilled lavender towels offered at the end of every session.

“We worked really hard on creating an experience for each class,” she said. “We want to engage all the senses. There’s going to be great music. It’s going to be fun.”

For those curious to try it out, Movement is offering free classes for the first two weeks, starting with the grand opening on Friday, August 1st.

Movement provides all mats and equipment, so all you need to bring is yourself.
