Jayne Trcka, the bodybuilder and actress famed for her role as Miss Mann in Scary Movie, has tragically died at 62.

The star’s death occurred in San Diego, California on December 12, with TMZ reporting the news. The cause of death is yet to be determined, according to the San Diego medical examiner who also verified the sad news.

Jayne’s son reportedly had no knowledge of any health issues that could have precipitated his mother’s sudden passing. Jayne began her career in the 1980s as a bodybuilder before making her mark in Hollywood with her role in Scary Movie, sharing the screen with big names such as Anna Faris, Regina Hall, and the Wayans brothers, Marlon and Shawn.

In her most memorable role as Miss Mann, Jayne portrayed the girls’ gym teacher at B. A. Corpse High School. This was her sole appearance in the Scary Movie franchise, which went on to release Scary Movie 2 (2001), Scary Movie 3 (2003), Scary Movie 4 (2006), Scary Movie 5 (2013), and an upcoming Scary Movie 6 set to hit screens in June 2026, reports the Mirror US.

“There was trauma to the body, but we wouldn’t be able to indicate cause of death at this time,” a San Diego Medical Examiner spokesperson told The U.S. Sun.

Jayne later featured on TV shows like Whose Line is It Anyway? and The Drew Carey Show. She also made an appearance in the 2010 music video for Beyoncé and Lady Gaga’s hit song Telephone.

Beyond her brief ventures into the entertainment world, Jayne was also known for her work as a real estate agent in California. As a bodybuilder, she graced the pages of fitness magazines such as Flex, MuscleMag International, and Women’s Physique World.

In 1997, Jayne claimed the top spot at the California State Championships at the age of 34. The following year, she secured first place at the Junior Nationals before triumphing once more in 2004.

Jayne was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on February 27, 1963. She began weight training following her move to Southern California in 1986, and within just two years, she was taking part in bodybuilding competitions.

Supporters of the actress and bodybuilder flocked to social media to express their sympathies. “Remembering the strong Miss Mann, not just a role, but an inspiration in fitness and comedy,” one person wrote with a broken heart, crying, and arm muscle emojis.

“From Miss Mann to bodybuilding icon… her legacy lives on,” another added. A third wrote, “I hope she’s lifting in the after life.”
