D1 Gyms, based in units seven and eight of Bromyard Business Park, Bromyard Road, Worcester, has been granted permission by Worcester City Council to expand its premises into an adjacent unit.

The 24-hour gym, which opened on September 20 of last year, has had its planning application to expand into a tyre fitting business next door approved, based at unit six of the business park, at the former Meco factory.

D1 Gyms is currently open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with parking for over 80 cars and currently offering over 100 fitness classes per month, including Europe’s largest functional training rig and both male and female saunas.

Despite not being open long, manager Dan Parviez said a community has already formed at the gym.

“D1 as a brand has two main things,” he said less than two months after the opening. “One is to give that balanced lifestyle change in a healthy and comfortable environment.

“It’s showing people that fitness doesn’t have to be big and scary. At the core, it’s people coming together and feeding off each other’s healthy lifestyles.

“The second thing is to give what is stereotypically an upper-class experience on a budget to the general public.

“It’s down to our staff and personal trainers that we don’t have these cliques forming. As a whole, everyone seems to get along.

“Everyone is sharing their journeys together. We definitely have a gym community, but it’s not a clique-y one.”
